2010 Salem Area Historical Society

The year 2010 for the Salem Area Historical Society was a full year of activity.

2010 SAHS Plymouth Whaler Hockey Night

38 Memebers and Friends of SAHS attended the Plymouth Whalers Hockey Game on Saturday, Jan. 16th, which was a 3-0 victory for the Whalers over the Niagara Ice Dogs.  SAHS ran the Chuck-A-Puck contest at the game and netted $270 for its general fund.

2010 SAHS January Meeting

In January, our monthly meeting on the fourth Wednesday of the month, January 27th, was held at the Salem Township Hall.   This was a business meeting to review our 2009 financial statement, current financial position, and the 2010 budget.  Through many generous donations and your memberships, the society now has a growing cash reserve.

 2010 SAHS Annual Dinner/Auction
Salem Area Historical Society held its annual DINNER/AUCTION on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Fox Hills Golden Fox Clubhouse.  There were 69 attendees and 118 Auction Items. They enjoyed a wonderful buffet banquet, which was followed by a short business meeting.  The election slate of offices for 2010 was presented and accepted.    The silent and live auctions were the last agenda items.  The auction committee did a great job in gathering the donations.   Thanks to all who helped SAHS raise over $4,000 during this event.  Please support our DONORS, who are listed on our Annual Dinner/Auction page.

Flag Day
SAHS participated in the Salem Flag Day Parade on Saturday, June 5th.  It is small town America at its best. Go to Salem Flag Day for pictures.

Historical Vehicle Show & Ride

SAHS held its Historical Vehicle Show & Ride on Sunday, Aug. 15th.  A small group of car owners and SAHS members enjoyed the day and took a ride on the roads of Salem Township.  Unfortunately, a slight drizzle developed during the drive, but it did not dampen the enjoyment.   Ice Cream and drinks were enjoyed.  Vehicle Show & Ride Photos

Annual Barn Dance

The SAHS Annual Barn Dance was held at the Three Cedars Farm (7897 Six Mile Rd. at Curtis Rd. Northville, MI 48168) on September 10th.  The dance was attended by 236, which is the largest yet.  Picks 'N' Sticks provided the live music and the caller.  Once again, everyone had a wonderful time.  Go to our Annual Barn Dance Page for more information including photos.  SAHS extends a special THANK YOU to Gary Whittaker and his staff at Three Cedars Farm for generously donating their facility and time for the use of the Barn Dance.  Their barn is an excellent venue for our event.  An additional THANK YOU goes to Picks 'N' Sticks and Sherry Humecky for their great play and delightful attitude.
