2009 Salem Area Historical Society

The year 2009 for the Salem Area Historical Society was a full year of activity.

2009 SAHS Plymouth Whaler Hockey Night

SAHS participated in Plymouth Whalers Hockey Night on Saturday, January 6th.  We sold 24 tickets and sponsored the Chuck-A-Puck.  Diane Cwik and Helen Gierman sold the pucks up though the first two periods.  The SAHS netted $414!  GREAT JOB!!! THANK YOU!

It was an exciting Game.  The Whalers jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first period.  But Guelph scored 3 goals in the 2nd period to take a 4-3 lead.  They added one in the 3rd period before the Whalers could score again.  The final was a Whalers' lose by the score of 5-4.

2009 SAHS January Meeting

In January, our monthly meeting on the fourth Wednesday of the month, January 28th, was held at the Salem Township Hall. After a short business meeting, we viewed a media presentation entitled “Electricity into Rural Areas” that described the events and times when electricity availability went from 10% to 90% in rural America.

2009 SAHS Annual Dinner/Auction
Salem Area Historical Society held its annual DINNER/AUCTION on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Fox Hill Golf Course Clubhouse.  There were 82 attendees.  They enjoyed a wonderful buffet banquet, which was followed by a short business meeting.  The election slate of offices for 2009 was presented and accepted.    The auction was the last agenda item.  The auction committee did a great job in gathering the donations.  We had 98 Auction Items from over 50 donors.  Please support our sponsors who are listed on our Website at Annual Dinner/Auction  .  It was a lively auction with lots of participation.  This year’s Dinner / Auction set records for the most tickets sold, the most attendees, the most donors, the most items for auction, the highest value of items for auction, the most items auctioned, the most money received for auction items, the largest 50/50 and the highest total funds generated for the SAHS.  When adding up the funds generated from the banquet, auction, 50/50 and donations, we raised over $4,000 Thanks to all who helped make this Salem Area Historical Society event such a success!!!!
